No collection of indigenous Parkland Wildflowers could be without the White
Trillium. It is perhaps the foremost herald of spring in the wilds of
Ontario. I hope this painting conveys the feeling we get after a long winter
as the strengthening spring sun finally opens those huge white petals.
I was trying to capture the subtle colours found in the brilliance of the petals. We like to think of them as pure, pristine white though few truly are. And as they age, more pink and lilac shades become apparent.
