The 'Killbear Ladyslipper' is the first in a series of Parkland Wildflowers
indigenous to these areas. All too easily overlooked, the faithful, yearly
parade of the wildflowers as they mark off the seasons, is an essential part
of the subtle beauty of the North.
Most years by the time I got to the park the bloom of the Ladyslipper was long spent. But, as we braved the mosquitos of late spring, we were richly rewarded. This little painting will touch a fond memory for any who share its brief visit each spring.
